Answer: Yes. Many of these pieces have strong demand allowing us to pay higher prices.
Why are diamonds that are purchased at chain stores such as Kay, Jared, Zales, Helzberg and others worth less when trying to resell?
Answer: Yes, all paperwork, including an appraisal, helps us evaluate your items.
Do you purchase engagement rings?
Answer: Yes. We purchase almost all items that contain gold, silver, diamonds and some colored stones.
Is estate jewelry more valuable than fine jewelry?
Answer: It depends on the piece and the desirability. For example, just because a pin with diamonds is old, does not mean it is in demand.
Pins are not a desirable jewelry in today’s world.
How do you determine the value of the jewelry you purchase?
Answer: We evaluate the precious metal content, then the stones and most importantly the salability. A band with 8 stones across is much more desirable than a cluster ring.
Jewelry that is 10k has much less of a demand than 14kt.
What determines if my jewelry is salable versus non- salable?
Answer: Demand. We pay more for what sells the best. Example: 85 out of hundred stones are rounds or Emerald cuts. Therefore, pears and marquis are valued less, even with the same color and clarity.
What if gemstones and diamonds are mixed in my jewelry?
Answer: We pay extra for all diamonds and some colored stones depending on size and quality. Most of the smaller colored stones are commercial quality, treated, heated or filled or synthetic.
Many diamonds purchased from mall stores are low quality. We buy these but pay what they are worth based on demand.
