Thor Selzer aka Thor Selzer Madsen (1925 – 1989) was a Danish modernist and abstract designer who created many pieces for Georg Jensen as well as under his own name. In 1945, he trained as a silver and goldsmith with goldsmith Ferdinand Antvorskov (1884-1977). Selzer opened his own workshop in 1957.
His pieces include pendants, cuff links, earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets, abstract pins and tie clips. These are mostly rendered in silver and gold sometimes combined with opals and diamonds and shaped in abstract constructive styles. Some of his creations feature flowers on stems where the flower petals are coated with enamel.
Selzer’s works also include art and are displayed in the collections of many museums including the Danish Museum of Decorative Art in Copenhagen.
